FAQs

What to bring to my first appointment?

On your first visit an initial evaluation will be performed. This appointment will usually last an hour to 90 minutes. Dean Evans, PT will discuss with you the results and findings and how he plans to proceed with treatment. To your first visit you will need to bring the forms found on our website in Patient Services under Forms, filled out, or arrive 15 minutes early to complete the paperwork. Also bring with you your insurance card and/or billing information. You may want to wear shorts or gym clothing for doing exercises. If you have a knee, ankle or hip injury we prefer you to wear shorts but we can supply shorts if you do not have any. If you have a shoulder injury, we prefer you to wear a sleeveless top for shoulder exposure, but a gown will be provided if not.

Will my insurance cover treatment?

If you provide us with the proper billing information we will be happy to bill you insurance. Please refer to our Billing page for a list of common insurances we are providers for. If you insurance is not on that list please contact us at (509)484-0095 or devanspt@therasportnw.com

We also encourage you to contact your insurance company directly to have them explain or answer any questions reguarding your policy coverage. If you insurace company requires pre-authorization please be sure that authorization has been sent before your first appointment.

Do I need a doctors' referral to be treated?

Yes, we will need a referral from your primary care doctor in order to properly bill your insurance company. If you do not have a referral from your doctor, please contact us or contact your doctor and ask them to fax us one.

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy is the treatment of a disorder/disease, physical dysfunction or injury of the muscles, bones or joints by the use of therapeutic exercise and the application of modalities such as massage, cold laser, ultrasound, electrotherapy, heat, etc, intented to restore or facilitate normal function or development.The therapist attempts to prevent pain or further damage and may also train different muscles to compensate for the ones that have been damaged.

What kinds of conditions or diagnoses do you treat?

We treat a variety of conditions to include but not limited to:

Back and neck pain and headaches

Orthopedic injuries

Arthritis and chronic pain

Sports injuries including sprains, strains and contusions

Auto-accident injuries

Work related injuries including carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, shoulder impingment syndrome

Scoliosis

Postsurgical rehabilitation including total joint replacement, ACL reconstruction, cartliage surgery, fracture/dislocation repairs, arthroscopic surguries

Balance and dizzziness problems

Muscle weakness or imbalance

Tendinitis or bursitis

Muscle spasms or tension

Fibromyalgia

Osteoporosis

Plus much more...

How long will each appointment take?

The average visit takes about 45 minutes to an hour. On ther first appointment expect it to take longer, about 1.5 hours. The duration is also dependent on the kind of therapy you are receiving. As you progress in your recovery we may provide you with a Home Exercise Program so your visits can be much shorter. If you have any limitations please let us know and we will do our best to work will you in scheduling your visits.
